My Traveling Essentials

When I travel I have a few “must have” items that I rely on to keep me healthy and happy for the duration of the trip.  Stock up on these awesome goodies before your next vacation so you can feel prepared to make healthy choices!

My Water Bottle.  I can’t stress enough the importance of staying hydrated while you are on vacation, especially if you are going to be spending your time lounging in the sun.  Be prepared and get yourself a nice big water bottle you can carry around with you as a constant reminder to “drink up”! I am obsessed with this “chug mug” from victoria’s secret, great for both hot and cold drinks!

This stuff is loaded with good for you ingredients and is perfect for when you need a little protein or energy boost when you’re out and about.  Use this to make your own smoothies on vacation, add it into your morning oatmeal or just mix it in some water.  My personal favorite is the “green dream”.

3. My FitBook.  Don’t lose track of your eating habits just because you are on vacation – your body still needs lots of veggies and other good stuff to feel healthy and happy!  Take this little journal in your purse with you and make sure to write down what you eat and how it makes you feel so you can still stay on top of your goals!

4. Kind Bars. I am in love with Kind Bar’s new “Strong & Kind” line, they are packed with more protein than ever and less sugar than the traditional fruit varieties! My new favorite is the “Honey Smoked BBQ” it’s got 10g of protein and only 6g of sugar, stock up of these high protein snacks so you don’t have to resort to McDonald’s at the airport.

My Sneakers.  You can always use new sneakers, just like carbs—even when your plate is full of them it you honestly can never have enough.  When you are into cross training like I am the most important criteria for choosing a shoe is having a raised yet flexible platform heel will give you the balance and support you need for heavy lifts but also allow you to do other movements such as plyometrics.  I love these customizable Nike’s, fashionable and great for training!
