Self Talk: Believing is the First Step

Sunday Reflection: Believing in the First Step.

If you would have asked me 4 years ago where I would be today I would have never imagined my current life was possible.  I didn’t believe I was capable of owning my own business and I had accepted my dream job didn’t exist.  I was letting my limiting beliefs hold me back and I was stuck in a state of negativity.
Flash forward to today: I spent my morning working in the comfort of my own home, tele-coaching amazing women from all over the country!  What I once thought was just a dream is now becoming a reality.  It’s amazing how much your life can be positively impacted when you start letting go of doubt.

HOW THIS APPLIES TO YOU: 
Many of us believe that it’s not possible to live a life that truly makes us happy, that our dreams are reserved for the select few: the lucky, the beautiful, the wealthy or the smart ones.  The belief that you are missing that certain something may be the exact reason you aren’t succeeding.
Start utilizing self talk, it’s a simple but effective way to build your long term confidence and transform a pessimistic outlook into a optimistic one.   Stop believing that you can’t, instead use positive affirmations to start each day.  The first step is to tell yourself YOU CAN do this and you will.

HOW TO USE SELF TALK: 
Step 1: identify your limiting beliefs.  What are the thoughts and ideas you have that are holding you back or creating doubt in your mind?
Step 2: give your limiting beliefs a positive spin.  For example: your limiting belief is that you will never be able to lose the weight or tone up, that you are destined to be stuck at your current physical level.  Take that negative thought and disregard it, write down that YOU CAN change your body and you WILL SUCCEED at losing the weight and having the figure you’ve always imagined.
Step 3: write your mantra.  After giving your limiting belief a spin turn it into a positive statement.
Ex. “I am strong enough to lose the weight”, “I will succeed on my journey to better health”, “I am confident in my abilities and I know I can achieve all my wildest dreams” Whatever it is that gets you pumped up and ready to kick some ass!
Step 4: post that mantra somewhere you can see it often.  For me this could mean writing my mantra on my bathroom mirror with expo marker, putting post-its on my fridge or changing the background on my phone.  Whatever I have to do to make a positive impact.
Step 5: recite your mantra in the mirror every morning.  At first this might feel weird talking to yourself but once you do it you will realize how powerful and invigorating it is to pump yourself up with self talk.  If you say it enough it will become easier to believe it, and what we believe is what we achieve.

❁ i am allowed to get rid of the toxic people in my life
❁ my body does not define me

❁ i do not need to justify my actions
❁ and most importantly, i can get through anything.
